Until recently, requests for facial and body modeling were associated mainly with celebrities, glamour, and dramatic transformations. However, today plastic surgery is taking a significant step towards naturalness, delicacy, and preservation of individuality. Contouring, i.e., surgical or minimally invasive modeling of facial and/or body features, is becoming increasingly popular not only among public figures but also among a wide range of patients who want to look harmonious, well-groomed, and in tune with their inner self.
Plastic surgeons focus on gentle modeling without excesses
Today, most patients do not come for radical changes, but for delicate refinements: to emphasize something a little, correct something, or add clarity to lines where needed. The trend is toward a clear jawline, a softly defined waist, and cheekbones without excessive volume. Requests for so-called “soft contouring” are the best proof that modern beauty aesthetics tends toward balance and naturalness, and doll-like figures and faces have long gone out of fashion.
Three key tools of modern contouring
Among the most effective and natural methods of surgical correction of the face and body, three areas can be identified that demonstrate high results with minimal intervention:
1. Lipofilling. This method is based on transplanting the patient's own fat to areas that lack volume or definition. Most often these are the cheekbones, cheeks, chin, as well as the breasts or buttocks. The advantages of this method include complete biocompatibility, a natural appearance, and skin regeneration thanks to the stem cells contained in the adipose tissue. Lipofilling not only emphasizes natural features but also improves the quality of the skin in the area of injection.
2. Soft liposuction. Modern liposuction methods minimize tissue trauma and significantly reduce the recovery period. This is not just aggressive “fat removal,” as many people imagined in the 90s, but delicate work on the body shape: preserving smooth lines, emphasizing curves, reducing local deposits in problem areas (abdomen, sides, thighs, chin, area above the knees, etc.). Soft liposuction is often combined with lipofilling — in a single operation, fat can be delicately removed where there is too much and added where there is not enough.
3. Fat transfer. In addition to the face, fat transfer is often used to correct the breasts, buttocks, arms, and even remove scars. This not only achieves an aesthetic result but also has a therapeutic effect, as adipose tissue has a positive effect on skin regeneration and microcirculation. The use of modern methods of cleansing and preparing adipose tissue makes the procedure safe, predictable, and effective.
Most modern patients do not chase trends but strive to look in accordance with their inner state. Contouring is often not about changing yourself, but about creating a “better version of yourself”: for example, surgery can restore lost volume after weight loss or age-related changes, eliminate facial asymmetry, and improve body proportions while preserving the individuality of the face and figure.
For many, contouring is becoming part of a comprehensive approach to self-care, just like a balanced diet, exercise, or psychotherapy.
A professional approach is the key to natural results
In my practice, I always approach each patient individually. Properly performed facial or body contouring is always a balance between form and function, between expectations and reality, between visible effect and naturalness. A professional assessment of anatomy, taking into account all the characteristics of the tissues, muscle mobility, and skin density, allows me to create a wonderful result that does not require filters on social media and does not look “done.”
